House of Distance
Expulsion excludes primarily the return. What survives in memory is the place where everything started and the longings for lost moments. The network of inner relations to the experienced native home which nurses and keeps up the feeling of origin and identity changes under new and strange nourishment, deteriorates, or becomes confused through new wishes and hopes of the presence. The installation is a physical image of the process of loss and elaboration. Comparable to an active organism made of nets, veins, ropes, locks and resistances personal history forms in living contact to the lost home and paradoxically conserves it in the awareness of irrevocable loss.
