Festival Launch and World Refugee Day Weekend
Following on from our successful festival launch we are looking forward to the next four weekends of DISPLACED 2015.
The launch-weekend featured a panel-discussion on the theme of Displacement and the meeting of art and science, there was a delicious buffet prepared by Luckenwalde resident Syrian refugee Marwan Osso, a guided tour of the exhibition, and the German-British duo Refugees KM gave a performance inspired by the correspondence of exiled Mendelsohn Hall architect Erich Mendelsohn and his wife. The weekend was topped by a performance by the world-famous Maharaj Trio.

This coming weekend is very special, with Saturday the 20th June marking World Refugee Day. In addition to the DISPLACED 2015 Exhibition with artworks by our selection of 32 international artists, we will offer a large interactive sculpture-board-game, recycled-art and music workshops, screenings in our Red Cross Video-Tent, and bouncy castles for the children – all at the Mendelsohn Hall. We will be screening Iva Radivojevic’s award-wining film Evaporating Borders, as well as short films on the theme of Displacement by artists from Bulgaria, Hungary, Argentina, Georgia, Germany, USA and the UK. Filmmaker Verena Kyselka will talk about her work The Formosa Experiment.
